Antigua and Barbuda National Flag

Antigua and Barbuda's flag was designed by Mr. Reginald Samuels in 1966, an art teacher in an Antiguan high school, and was adopted when Antigua and Barbuda attained Independence in Association with Great Britain on February 27th, 1967.

Symbolism

  • The seven point Golden Sun symbolizes the dawn of a new era.
  • Red symbolizes lifeblood of slave forefathers and dynamism of the people.
  • Blue represents hope.
  • Black symbolizes the soil and African heritage.
  • Gold, Blue and White: Antigua and Barbuda's tourist attractions: sun, sea and sand.
  • The "V" formed by the red borders represent: "Victory at last."
